Gold is yellow with a vivid gleam, and is the only colored precious metal. It is the most ductile of all the metals e.g. it can be rolled out into old leaf. It is among the rarest elements on the planet. Gold has been worked since around 4,000 BC. The first gold cons were struck in around 650 BC in the countries of the Orient.

The Graf von Faber-Castell Collection uses 18-carat gold (=750) for the nibs of the fountain pens.
